Healing Mind Wellness – Mental Health & Wellness Application

Course: Graphic Design for Interactive Systems, MS HCC

Overview:

Process & Contributions:

Redesigned the Healing Mind Wellness website to make mental health support more accessible, trustworthy, and user-friendly. The project focused on simplifying navigation, improving readability, and creating a calming, inclusive design language to better serve individuals seeking emotional well-being resources.

1. Research & Analysis

  • Conducted competitive and domain analysis to benchmark against other wellness platforms and identify gaps in usability and accessibility.

  • Created personas and empathy maps (e.g., caregivers, students, and older adults) to capture diverse user needs, especially for accessibility and inclusivity.

  • Defined task flows (e.g., scheduling a consultation) to reduce friction and streamline complex navigation.

2. Information Architecture & Design System

  • Reorganized the site structure into clear categories (Home, Services, Plan Your Visit, Careers, Contact).

  • Built a modular grid system, replacing a cluttered hierarchical layout with flexible, scannable content blocks.

  • Developed a brand identity with calming colors (dusty blue, warm beige, peach), readable typography, and consistent iconography to support trust and clarity.

3. Prototyping & Iteration

  • Designed wireframes and mid-fidelity flows to refine navigation and test with peers.

  • Built high-fidelity prototypes in Figma for five key screens:

    • Home: clear value proposition with strong CTA and simplified navigation.

    • Services: categorized offerings with icons and benefit-driven descriptions.

    • Plan Your Visit: step-by-step preparation with progress indicators.

    • Careers: simplified job listings with consistent visual hierarchy.

    • Contact: streamlined form, accessible labels, and integrated map.

  • Applied design systems (visibility, consistency, error prevention, feedback) to ensure learnability and reduce user anxiety.

Outcome & Impact:

  • Delivered style guides, templates, and a consistent design system that strengthened brand trust and improved navigation clarity.

  • Introduced accessibility features (high-contrast modes, larger fonts, captions/voice support, and larger touch targets) to serve diverse users.

  • Produced prototypes that demonstrated improvements in readability, inclusivity, and navigation, directly supporting user confidence and reducing barriers to mental health access.
